Charoite

The name "charoite" is derived from the Chara River in Siberia, Russia, where this mineral was first discovered in 1940. The Chara River flows through the area where charoite occurs, and therefore the mineral's name is given to it river derived. Charoite is known for its purple to lilac color and is often associated with the region in Siberia where it is found. It is a rare mineral.
